Out-of-school suspensions harm children.

North Carolina has a suspension problem.

Our Mission

We advocate for policies and practices that ensure every child in North Carolina feels safe, valued, and inspired to learn in a supportive school environment. We are currently working on ending exclusionary discipline practices in North Carolina for all PreK - 2nd Grade Students.

Get Informed. Get Involved. Take Action.

Use this website to advocate for our youngest learners.

  • Advocate for your child. You know your child best and you are their strongest advocate. Learn about parents' rights as they relate to exclusionary policies.

  • Advocate for NHC children. The New Hanover County Board of Education meets every month. Learn how to contact School Board members and speak at their meetings.

  • Advocate in your county. The Board of Education in your county sets the policies on out school suspensions and seclusion.  Learn about those policies and how to change  them.

  • Advocate in the NC General Assembly. Your state representatives are probably unaware that 4, 5, 6, and 7-year-olds are being kicked out of school in their District. Educate them and help them revise statutes that are harmful to children.

It is a work-in-progress. More information is being added or updated each month.
